DSL

F.A.Q.

What do I have to look out for when choosing my DSL?

Due to the constant development of Internet providers, the range of Internet speeds has increased significantly. However, so that you don’t get lost in the jungle of MBit/s when making your choice, here are a few useful points that you should take into consideration when making your choice:

  • You should consider the cancellation periods of your current contract.
  • You should take care of the succession early.
  • The surrounding maximum speed is only theoretical. In practice, the indicated speed can differ greatly from the real one (e.g. in rural areas).
  • Be aware about how often you use the Internet and for what.

How do I find the right Internet speed for my household?

Thanks to the evolution of Internet connections, you have a wide choice of possible Internet speeds. From standard 16 MBit/s up to 1000 MBit/s, everything is available.

When looking for the right speed for you, you should take a closer look at yourself, your household and everyone else who lives with you.

If you use the Internet occasionally, a standard 16 MBit/s line is completely sufficient.

If more than two people live with you in your household, you should expect about 10 MBit/s per person for occasional Internet use.

If you have children/teenagers living in your household, you should increase your Internet speed to at least 50 MBit/s.

If you also work from your home office, you also need min. 50 MBit/s.

In general, it is better to take out a stronger connection to avoid the risk of having too slow an Internet speed until your contract is terminated.

I have children/teenagers in my household, what is the right internet speed?

If you have children/teenagers living in your household, you should choose the strongest DSL connection possible, because more and more children/teenagers also use the Internet for school purposes, which leads to a higher number of MBit/s required. Moreover, video games, which mostly require Internet, are very popular among teenagers. Therefore, to keep the family peace 😉 it is recommended that you get yourself a min. 100 MBit/s powerful Internet connection.

How do I terminate my current DSL contract?

Here are all the relevant points for your DSL contract termination:

    • It is imperative that you cancel within the cancellation periods specified in your contract.
    • You will need your customer number, contract number and, if applicable, your telephone number.
    • In most cases, you can already request your cancellation on the website of your provider. You only have to add your reason for termination.

What are the reasons for termination?

    • Regularly at the next possible date
    • Cancellation due to telecommunication law
    • Cancellation due to price increase
    • Cancellation due to relocation
    • Termination due to death
